Draft Qualitative Project

Draft Qualitative Project

Q The next step is a DRAFT of the Qualitative Project Research Report. This draft should cover all of the required points in the template below, but it may be less developed or more preliminary than in the final version. Please do not put your name on the DRAFT report as you will be doing peer reviews. After the submission date, each student will be assigned two submissions for their peer reviews. In the comments field at the bottom or side of the page, answer the following 3 questions 1. 1. What is the topic of this report? 2. What are 3 things that the report does well 3. What are 3 ways that the report could be improved. Pay close attention to the required components and the grading criteria below. The Qualitative Project Research Report describes the motivations, process, findings, and insights gained for your specific project. The report should have in-text citations throughout the document to give context of current events, connect to existing research, justify the research method, and relate findings to other research or articles. (I recommend using something like the References tools in MS Word to manage citations and create the References list. It is a big time-saver!) I ask that you use the following template for your research reports. Label each major section (#1 through #7) with the headings as indicated below. Focus first on addressing all of the required points on the template, then go back and write transitions between the major sections when you have time. Template: 1. Introduction (1-2 paragraphs) o Topic of research and brief description of problem being addressed and method used o Description of structure of report 2. Background and Research Objectives (1-2 paragraphs) o How the topic fits into current events and/or long-term social trends o Research questions and why the answers matter, including to whom 3. Abbreviated Literature Review - at least 6 sources, with 4 or more peer-reviewed/scholarly (3-4 paragraphs) o What the literature review covers and how it relates to your topic o Similarities among source research or findings as it relates to your topic o Differences among source research or findings as it relates to your topic o How your research builds from and/or contributes to the research 4. Research Methods (3-5 paragraphs) o Research method and why – review research questions o Research hypothesis and why o Researcher positionality – Research approach (ex. Inductive, Constructivist) and how your identity or experiences or social position motivated the research and may have affected the data gathering o Who you planned to gather data from and why o How the actual data collection went, research sample, what went well, what could have been improved o Brief description of coding and any other analysis process used 5. Findings and Discussion (4-6 paragraphs + 1 or more visualizations of results) o Description of main patterns observed in the data analysis with explanation of visual(s) o Detail and quotes that support main findings o Detail and quotes that are somehow different from others o Explanation of relationship of research results to research questions and research hypothesis o How this research deepened your understanding of the topic and related issues o Limitations of the research findings – research method, time period, population, etc 6. Conclusion and Recommendations (1-2 paragraphs) o Summary of research process, findings, conclusions with respect to research questions o Comment on value of research, key insights gained, and how the value or insights could be expanded in future research 7. References list – at least 8-10 sources, 5 or more need to be scholarly articles/peer-reviewed sources, references to support research methods may be the text and videos. Research Reports are graded on the following criteria: • All required elements are covered in appropriate detail. • The information presented is clear, accurate and directly elated to the elements. • Evidence is presented to support conclusions • The content is appropriately thoughtful for an upper division college-level class. • The visuals are clear, fully labeled, and visually appealing • References to sources are given when information is presented Rubric Draft Proposal Draft Proposal Criteria Ratings Pts This criterion is linked to a Learning OutcomeIntroduction 3 pts Excellent Clear 1-2 paragraph introduction 2 pts Good 1 pts needs work missing essential elements 0 pts No Marks 3 pts This criterion is linked to a Learning OutcomeBackground and Research Objectives 3 pts Excellent Clear 1-2 paragraphs How the topic fits into current events and/or long-term social trends Research questions and why the answers matter, including to whom 2 pts Good 1 pts needs work missing essential elements 0 pts No Marks 3 pts This criterion is linked to a Learning OutcomeLiterature Review 3 pts Excellent At least 4 sources, with 3 or more peer-reviewed/scholarly 3-4 Paragraphs 2 pts Good Less than 4 sources Less than 3 Paragraphs 1 pts needs work missing essential elements 0 pts No Marks 3 pts This criterion is linked to a Learning OutcomeResearch Methods 3 pts Excellent 3-5 paragraphs Research method and why Research hypothesis and why 2 pts Good Less than 3 Paragraphs 1 pts needs work missing essential elements 0 pts No Marks 3 pts This criterion is linked to a Learning OutcomeFindings 3 pts Excellent 4-6 paragraphs 1 or more visualizations of results 2 pts Good Less than 4 paragraphs no Visualizations 1 pts needs work missing essential elements 0 pts No Marks 3 pts This criterion is linked to a Learning OutcomeConclusion 3 pts Excellent Summary of research process, findings, conclusions with respect to research questions Comment on value of research, key insights gained, and how the value or insights could be expanded in future research 2 pts Good 1 pts needs work missing essential elements 0 pts No Marks 3 pts This criterion is linked to a Learning OutcomeReference list 3 pts Excellent Reference list with at least 7 references 2 pts Good Less than 7 references, or poor formating 1 pts needs work missing essential elements 0 pts No Marks 3 pts This criterion is linked to a Learning OutcomeOverall Impression Grammar, organization, formatting, clarity 4 pts Excellent 3 pts good 2 pts needs work 0 pts No Marks 4 pts Total Points: 25

The research topic is "Psychosocial Experiences of the Patients with Schizophrenia." Patients with schizophrenia are commonly observed in different mental health rehabilitation centers. Those patients usually possess delusional beliefs based on factual realities and hallucinations. Schizophrenia patients lose contact with reality, and the symptoms can only be managed and not fully treated. However, the onset of schizophrenia has been linked with different biological, psychological, and social factors. Genetics and traumatic experiences are the most prominent factors in the development of schizophrenia. In this regard, there is a high need to study the psychological and social factors that worked as predisposing in nature in inducing the delusions in patients with schizophrenia.
